Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating the death of a person believed to be the victim of an assault inside a residence on Macaulay’s Lane in Sydney.
Officers were called to the location at approximately 4:30 PM Tuesday, July 23rd, where they discovered a deceased person and arrested a suspect, who they also located inside the residence and remains in police custody.
Major Crime and Forensic Identification officers are investigating, in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death; charges are pending. The victim and suspect are known to each other, and police are treating this as an isolated incident with no greater risk to public safety.
The identity of the victim will not be released, pending completion of an autopsy and notification to Next of Kin.
