Cape Breton Regional Police remind retailers to be diligent when accepting cash, as part of an ongoing investigation into reports of counterfeit $100 bills circulating through CBRM.

100Police have received 10 reports over the last week, from retailers who have identified the counterfeit bills used for purchases. The bills look and feel authentic, but upon closer inspection some contain the words “prop money” within the hologram, and others have a peel-off hologram sticker on top.  The bills also share a common serial number: GJR6710018.

Anyone who sees currency with similar characteristics, or has any information on the source of these counterfeit bills is asked to please contact police at 902-563-5151 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
