Two girls face charges after Cape Breton Regional Police investigation of a reported assault on Welton Street in Sydney.

Police received a call at approximately 4:30 PM Monday, October 21st from a motorist who had witnessed two people pushing around a third person near the intersection of Welton and Maple Streets; shortly afterwards, a man reported to police that he had been the victim of an assault at this location.

Officers spoke with the man and witnesses, and obtained video footage of the incident; they were able to identify the two people responsible for the assault, who they arrested Tuesday night, October 23rd.

The 14- and 15-year old girls are scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court November 6th, both charged with Assault; the 14-year-old is also charged with Assault with a Weapon, for striking the man with an object and the 15-year-old is also charged for Mischief, for damaging some of the man’s belongings.

Police thank the public for their assistance in sharing information that assisted with the investigation.
