A pair of adults, aged 27 and 31, face theft and trespassing charges after Cape Breton Regional Police arrested them for stealing from vehicles.
Officers were called to a residence on the New Waterford Highway at approximately 3:20 AM, where homeowners reported catching two people searching through a vehicle in their driveway; officers found numerous items, including cash, sunglasses, a wallet and gift cards in their possession. Police have received additional reports of vehicle entries in the area and continue to return stolen items to owners.
The two persons were released on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court in July, charged with Theft, Trespassing and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
Police remind citizens to take precautions to limit easy access to your vehicles and protect yourselves and your belongings: lock your doors, and do not leave valuable items in vehicles or in plain sight. Also, please contact police or CrimeStoppers if you witness any suspicious activity in or around parked vehicles, or throughout your neighbourhoods.
