Three men arrested in connection to a shooting on Shore Road in Whitney Pier will all face charges for murder.
Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a residence on Shore Road at 12:45 AM February 22nd, after a complaint was received of multiple gun shots fired in the area. A male was reported running from the residence and a white truck was noticed leaving the scene. Officers attempted to stop this vehicle on Cow Bay Road in Sydney, where it was abandoned and occupants fled into a nearby wooded area. An Emergency Alert was activated for public safety and with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, two K9 Unit Teams a Drone Unit and additional Patrol officers, police tracked the three males to an apartment complext on Walter's Lane in Sydney, where they were arrested without incident. A 44-year-old male victim of gunshot wounds was pronounced deceased outside a residence on Shore Road.
Following investigation by the Major Crime Unit, police have charged Mal Chol (27), Goaner Mark Tut (20) and Letjor Geng (19), who are residents of Alberta, with First Degree Murder of Jeffrey Pearson. All three are remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.
While the investigation is ongoing, police continue to treat this as an isolated incident.
