Cape Breton Regional Police have now charged a third person connected to the disappearance and Murder of Kenneth "Justin" MacDonald.

Aaron Curtis Mickey, age 45, is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Robbery, and four Firearm related offences. He was arrested near Sydney on December 31st, as part of a continued investigation by the Major Crime Unit. Mickey is now remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

Justin MacDonald – described as 5’9” tall and 240 pounds, with sandy blond hair and blue eyes – was last seen on July 7th, 2024 at approximately 11 PM at the Irving gas station located at 183 Commercial Street, North Sydney, where he was captured on store video. Police later located Justin’s vehicle, a blue Kia Forte, NS License Plate #FYZ-715 approximately 25 km away in the Ormond Crescent area of Mira Road, in CBRM. Police have been actively investigating his disappearance and have followed up on several leads, including multiple searches with K9 and Drone teams and Ground Search and Rescue.

The investigation is ongoing. All interview requests will be accommodated during an in-person media availability with Cape Breton Regional Police during the week of January 6th; details on a date and time will be communicated when they are confirmed.
