 A 31-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court today, after he was caught breaking open a parking meter in the area of Pitt and Dodd Streets in Sydney.

Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a call from the area at approximately11:00 PM June 5th, reporting people that appeared to be damaging a parking meter. On arrival, officers located a suspect matching the reported description, nearby a broken parking meter, who they confirmed was in Breach of a Probation Order. The man was arrested, and through further investigation, police were able to identify him as the suspect in an ongoing investigation into previously damaged parking meters in May, where coin boxes had been taken from locations in the area of Bentinck Street.

Peter Evan Thomas Bernard is charged with Mischief (x2), Theft, and 2 Breaches of a Probation Order.
