Two men face charges for a theft from a Charlotte Street business, after Cape Breton Regional Police caught them with the stolen jewelry.
Officers were called to Inglis Jewelers at approximately 12:00 PM on July 3rd, where staff had discovered two previous customers had stolen a piece of jewelry from a display case. With further information from the store, officers patrolled through downtown and located individuals matching the description of the suspects in the area of Prince Street. On approaching the suspects, police also observed a piece of jewelry matching the description of what was taken from the store. Both men were identified to be in Breach of current Court-ordered conditions and arrested.
After further investigation, one of the men, a 47-year-old from Sydney, was released on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court on August 6th, charged with Theft, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breaching a previous Release Order. The second man, a 45-year-old from Glace Bay, was found to be in Breach of several conditions related to 3 previous Release Orders and will those face charges in Sydney Provincial Court today.
