A pair of Sydney adults face charges for fleeing police attempts to stop the vehicle they were driving.
Cape Breton Regional Police spotted the vehicle on the afternoon of June 17th, identifying the driver as someone known to be without a driver’s license and driving a vehicle bearing a stolen license plate. Officers stopped the vehicle in the parking area of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, and were able to also identify the male passenger; while approaching the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed onto Martha Boulevard, then turned onto Terry Way and struck another vehicle before continuing on into the community of Membertou. No one was injured.
Officers did not purse the vehicle in the interest of public safety, but quickly located the vehicle parked outside a Membertou residence; officers were able to enter the residence, where they located and arrested the two people who were inside the vehicle. They were both later released from custody on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court on July 29th.
