A 33-year-old man faces charges connected to an assault in a Sydney residence overnight.
Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a domestic incident Monday, January 29th, just before midnight. Officers found 5 people inside the home, all known to each other, including one who was suffering serious injuries; EHS transported that person to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who was then air-lifted to hospital in Halifax for further treatment. Three other people were taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries and later released. To protect their privacy in the nature of this incident, no further identifying information about the victims can be released.
Officers arrested the man from inside the residence, and members of the Forensic Identification and Major Crime Units responded for investigation. Michael James Edward King is remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre charged with Attempted Murder, three counts of Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault Police and Resist Arrest.
