A 24-year-old man faces mischief and threats charges, after Cape Breton Regional Police executed a warrant to enter a home for his arrest on Sunday, January 7th.

In response to threats and family concern for his well-being, police determined the man was inside a home on Main Street, but could not make contact with him. At approximately 9:00 AM, officers contained the area while members of the Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators responded to assist. After ongoing attempts to have the man respond to police, officers entered the home at approximately 1:00 PM, where they immediately located and arrested him without incident. He was taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for assessment and later remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

Riley Thomas Andrews is charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Harm and Mischief for Property Damage at another residence in Sydney Mines.
