Woman charged for attempted robbery
April 1, 2019
A 25-year-old woman from Sydney is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court today after allegedly trying to steal money from a customer outside the Scotiabank on Charlotte Street.
Cape Breton Regional Police were originally called to the bank on Friday morning at approximately 11:00 AM, to staff concerns that a female was being disruptive and not leaving the premises as requested; officers located the female outside of the main entrance and observed that she was showing signs of intoxication and was un-cooperative with police. Upon identifying the female, officers placed her under arrest for three Breaches of her Probation.
Later on Friday, a man contacted police to report that while leaving the Scotiabank that morning, a woman approached him and demanded money, also threatening that she was carrying a weapon. She began pulling on his arm as he attempted to get back into the bank at which time staff escorted them both out of the building and he left the area. Officers were able to identify that woman as the same person who had been arrested outside the bank a short time later.
After further investigation, Lizette Jane Dennis was also charged with Attempted Robbery and remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.
