Police originally responded to the scene at approximately 9:30 AM on Saturday morning, March 16th; a 51-year-old Newfoundland man, who was working at the back of the utility truck, was hit during the collision and transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car, a 47-year-old man from Glace Bay was also transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital and later released.
Both vehicles have been seized for the duration of the investigation and will undergo mechanical inspection. Police have also referred the incident to the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, who are conducting their own investigation.
