Police received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 12:05 PM, reporting that a male had pointed a firearm at another male inside a residence; the victim was able to get himself out of the house, but the male yielding the firearm refused to come out to police.

Members of the Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiators and Investigators arrived quickly on scene and were able to successfully negotiate with the suspect, who surrendered to police shortly after 1:30 PM.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured; it appears the two individuals are known to each other and this was an isolated incident.

Cape Breton Regional Police continue to investigate; charges are pending.
