At approximately 5:40 PM on Saturday, Cape Breton Regional Police responded to complaints of a male with a hand gun in a vehicle traveling on Grand Lake Road near the Mayflower Mall. The complainant, who was also driving in a vehicle, reported the man pointed the gun and fired several times, hitting his and other vehicles.

While police responded, the complainant continued talking to 9-1-1 operators and followed the vehicle eastbound on Grand Lake Road; the suspect vehicle sped up and attempted to flee the area by making a quick left-hand turn onto the Gardiner Road, at which time the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled into the ditch.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after, arresting all three people in the suspect vehicle and seizing a P36 Airsoft (BB) gun from inside.

Two individuals were later released without charges. Steven Douglas Killam was charged with Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Mischief and two Breaches; he was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre until his scheduled Court appearance.
