On Tuesday morning, July 21st, Cape Breton Regional Police responded to reports that an Island Catering cube van was stolen from the owner’s residence on Paul Street sometime during the overnight hours. Investigation led police to a sighting of the van in Eskasoni and with assistance from Eskasoni RCMP, police identified two possible suspects seen driving the van earlier that morning. Police located and arrested both males without incident, and recovered the van on Scottlynn Drive, where the accused had left it.

An 18-year-old New Waterford man was later released on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court on September 28th, when he’ll face a charge of Taking a Motor Vehicle without the Owner’s Consent, as well as a Breach of Conditions. The 15-year-old was held in police custody for Court today, charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle (over $5,000) and two Breaches of Probation.
