Police respond to MVA, arrest man for impaired driving

July 13, 2016

A 26-year-old Sydney man faces an impaired driving charge after being arrested early this morning.

At approximately 2:12 AM on July 13, Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle MVA on George Street in Sydney, where a vehicle had rear-ended another near the intersection of George Street and Townsend Street. Upon arrival, police spoke with the two motorists, where it became clear that the motorist who rear-ended the second vehicle showed signs of impairment.

The motorist was arrested on scene without incident. He was held in police custody and was released later this morning on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court at a later date.

There were no injuries reported and both drivers declined to seek medical attention. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Cape Breton Regional Police continue to investigate.
