Police remind off-road vehicle motorists of regulations

September 20, 2016

Cape Breton Regional Police are reminding citizens who own and operate off-road vehicles of the rules and regulations in place about where you can drive them.

Those who drive ATVs on regular roadways are subject to fines under the Off-Highway Vehicles Act. Please also note that this includes all sidewalks, as well as the Grand Lake Road Multi-Use Path.

Police are also reminding off-road vehicle motorists to always wear a helmet and maintain a valid permit.

Whether you’re biking, walking, driving in a vehicle, on a motorcycle, or on an ATV, please respect all rules of the road and work together to keep our roadways safe.
