Police investigating report of suspicious person
November 22, 2016
Cape Breton Regional Police are looking for a suspicious person after a 12-year-old girl reported a male driver approached her this morning.
At approximately 11:00 AM the girl was walking on Convent Street in Sydney Mines when a vehicle passed by her and then stopped abruptly; the driver rolled down his window and attempted to verbally get the girl’s attention, and continued doing so as he followed her onto Crescent Street. He then got out of the vehicle and followed her on foot for a short distance, before the girl met up with a family member and he returned to his vehicle and left the area.
The driver is described as a male in his mid-to-late twenties with dark skin, a thick beard, and a heavy accent when speaking. The vehicle is described as a blue, newer model SUV.
Police patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle or it’s driver. Anyone with information that can help identify and/or locate the driver is asked to contact police at 902-563-5151 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
