Police investigate suspicious salvage yard fire

April 27, 2016

Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating a suspicious fire set to a salvage yard on the Sydport Highway.

Police were originally called to the Sydport Highway at approximately 7:00 pm on April 26th to assist with traffic control, as members of several Fire Departments from across CBRM were on scene and fighting the fire of a pile of vehicles engulfed in flames. The Fire Chief deemed the fire suspicious. No injuries have been reported.

Police remained on the scene overnight, and members of the Forensic Identification Unit and the Fire Marshall’s office will continue to investigate today.
