Police charge two in connection to patient death
May 1, 2018
Two former employees of the Nova Scotia Health Authority face charges connected to the death of a 79-year-old male patient of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, who was found unresponsive on the sidewalk outside the hospital in the early morning hours of February 23rd.
Tammy Carrigan-Warner (41) of Sydney River and Valerie MacGillivary (47) of Glace Bay are both charged with Forgery; the charges result from a Cape Breton Regional Police investigation into the circumstances of the death, at the request of the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police were contacted by the Medical Examiner’s Office to assist with the investigation, through which officers discovered that documentation relating to the status of the patient during the overnight hours of February 22nd had been allegedly forged.
