 Police charge man after weapons threats

August 14, 2018

A 32-year-old Donkin man will appear in Sydney Provincial Court today for threats and assault, after an incident between him and family members at a residence on the Donkin Highway August 13th.

Cape Breton Regional Police responded to reports that a man was making threats with a weapon; officers were in the process of containing the area when they identified the man driving an ATV on the property and were able to quickly approach and arrest him without incident. With assistance from the K9 team, officers located a firearm with ammunition on the property.

Officers spoke with all other family members present at the residence, confirming no one was injured.  The accused was held in police custody overnight and faces charges of Mischief, Uttering Threats, Assault with a Weapon, Careless Use of a Firearm / Weapon / Ammunition, Pointing a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.
