Police arrest man after report of stolen vehicle
October 11, 2018
A 31-year-old North Sydney man is in police custody for dangerous and impaired driving, after Cape Breton Regional Police arrested him on High Street at approximately 9:30 AM.
Police had originally responded to reports that a Mazda car was stolen from a North Sydney residence; when officers located the vehicle, the driver would not stop for police. Officers continued to follow the vehicle at a safe speed and distance – not in pursuit – eventually to the area of King and High Streets where the driver struck the rear of a police vehicle as well as a vehicle parked on the street. All three vehicles were damaged, but no one was injured.
Members of the Traffic Safety and Forensic Identification Unit are on scene to assist with the investigation; charges are pending.
