Stay cautious of continued telephone phishing scams

Cape Breton Regional Police continue to receive complaints of telephone scams where individuals claim to work for government agencies or law enforcement; most recently, variations of this scam in the CBRM are alleging they represent immigration officials or credit card companies, targeting both seniors and new Canadians.

Police charge man for Millville vehicle theft 

August 16, 2018 

A 26-year-old Sydney resident was scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court this afternoon in connection to a stolen vehicle.  Corey Patrick Richard Blinkhorn is charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Trespassing and two Breaches of a Probation Order.

Two Sydney residents will appear in Sydney Provincial Court today after police seized marihuana worth more than $25,000 from a Castle Drive residence last night, August 13th.

A 32-year-old Donkin man will appear in Sydney Provincial Court today for threats and assault, after an incident between him and family members at a residence on the Donkin Highway August 13th.

Police charge 18 more for prostitution activity in Sydney

August 10, 2018 

A total of 18 men from throughout the CBRM face charges for Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration as the result of ongoing and extensive investigation in response to continued prostitution activity in downtown Sydney. Cape Breton Regional Police made the arrests over a 6-week period; all were released on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court, beginning on Monday, August 13th.
