Police have received several reports of vehicles being entered in the overnight hours; in most cases, it appears the vehicles are unlocked, and while there is no damage to the vehicles, items are being taken.
Police remind residents that these types of incidents are generally crimes of opportunity; unlocked doors allow for quick and easy entry to vehicles, and the sight of valuables is often a temptation for potential theft. Police encourage you to lock your doors, and strongly recommend valuable items not be left in vehicles, but if absolutely necessary, that they be removed from plain sight.
Police have increased resources and ask anyone witnessing suspicious activity in or around parked vehicles, or throughout their neighbourhoods, to please report it immediately by calling 563-5151 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
