The vehicle continued onto Highway 4 traveling towards East Bay and eventually turned onto the Eskasoni Highway. The Cape Breton Regional Police notified the RCMP in Eskasoni who set up a road block at 3589 Eskasoni Highway and deployed a spike belt, the vehicle did not stop at the roadblock and drove over the spike belt flattening all of the tires on the vehicle which came to a stop a short distance after. A 20 year old male was arrested at the scene and taken to Central Lock up facing several criminal code charges in relation to the incident. The vehicle had been stolen from a business in Sydney minutes before the police received the original call. The male was taken to court on this date charged with Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Theft of a vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, Evading Police, Resisting Arrest and Property Damage offences. There were no injuries to the accused or any of the police officers involved.
