Upon arrival first responders found a single submerged vehicle that had left the dirt road, landing in a brook. Two of the three occupants were able to get out of the vehicle; the third was unable to escape. The Reserve Mines Fire Department, Glace Bay Fire Department, and Emergency Health Services worked to get the female out of the vehicle; first responders worked to save the female victim but were unsuccessful. 

The female victim is 19years old; her name will not be released, pending notification of next of kin.

The accident is being actively investigated by the Traffic Safety Unit the Forensic Identification Unit, and the General Investigation Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Police Service.
