Updated: Motor vehicle collision, Lingan Road

February 17, 2016

At approximately 12:35PM, the Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Lingan Road just passed the Radar base.

The single occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Further details pertaining to the male’s identity cannot yet be confirmed, pending notification of next of kin.

Members of the Traffic Safety and Forensic Identification Units are on scene; police continue to investigate.

The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation has been notified and will be putting up road blocks on Lingan Road.

Traffic will be rerouted until the investigation is complete.

Update: Upon the family’s request, the CBRPS are not releasing the identity of the individual involved in the single motor vehicle collision.

The 59-year-old male’s remains were sent to the medical examiner to determine cause of death, where it was concluded the individual died from a medical related issue.
