Police were dispatched to the area last night in relation to the missing man.  A command post has been set up at the Mira Provincial Park beach area. Information provided by witnesses and obtained by investigators indicate the male was last seen in a 14 foot aluminum boat on the Mira River; the boat has been recovered.

The Cape Breton Regional Police Marine Unit is on scene and being assisted by the Albert Bridge Fire Department, Sydney Mines Fire Department, the Canadian Coast Guard, and Cape Breton Ground Search & Rescue.  Attempts to locate the missing male are ongoing and updates will be provided if there are any new developments with the investigation.

UPDATE: At approximately 3:30 PM, the Cape Breton Regional Police Dive Team recovered the body of a man in the Mira River, confirming his identity as missing person Cyril Lahey. 

Police do not suspect foul play in his death, but there will be an Autopsy completed to determine the cause of death, which is normal protocol as part of the investigation.
