A parent in Sydney Mines contacted police Thursday night, November 6th, after her son discovered a silver pin, approximately 1.5 inches long, inside the Halloween candy bar he was eating.

The family advises the bar was received during trick-or-treating on October 31st, and that the child had been trick-or-treating on Demarco Street, ocean Street, Atlantic Street, George’s River Road and Lannigans Lane.

This is the second report of potential Halloween candy tampering in the CBRM; both chocolate bars and pins are being analyzed by the Forensic Identification Unit.  Police remind parents and children to check all items prior to consuming them and report any tampering to police.
