 Police were called to the scene near 178 Point Aconi Road in Mill Creed at approximately 5:50 PM on January 24th, where a 2013 Black Hyundai Sonata and a bicycle, traveling in opposite directions, were involved in a head-on collision.The 17-year-old male driving the bicycle - since identified as Devin William Gilbert - received serious injuries and was transported to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and then the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, where he died this morning. 

The Traffic Safety and Forensic Identification Units continue to investigate.
