Police make drug arrests, charge 5 for possession and trafficking

Five people will appear in Sydney Provincial Court today for drug related charges, after two separate arrests.

Acting on a tip May 1st, Cape Breton Regional Police were led to downtown Sydney near Falmouth Street at approximately 4:30 PM, where a man and woman were seen believed to be selling drugs.  Street Crime officers arrested a 49-year-old male and 26-year-old female, seizing Cocaine and Ritalin pills; both are charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Cocaine and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Ritalin (Methylphenidate). The man, from North Sydney also faces three charges for Breaching previous Court-ordered conditions and the female, of Sydney faces one Breach charge.   

The previous night, police arrested three people at a Reservoir Avenue residence in Glace Bay.

Street Crime Officers executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at approximately 11:15 PM on April 30th, seizing a large quantity of Cocaine, LSD and Percocet. A 46-year-old and 40-year-old males, and a 44-year-old female, all of Glace Bay, were later charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Cocaine. The 46-year-old man is also facing charges of Possession of LSD and Possession of Oxycodone, and the 40-year-old male is facing two charges of Breaching previous Court-ordered conditions
