Cape Breton Regional Police have charged Derek Allan Donovan with Robbery with a Firearm, Pointing a Firearm, Wearing a Disguise, Uttering Threats, Possession of Marihuana and two Breaches.

Police originally responded to the robbery complaint just after midnight on May 19th, where a female clerk reported being threatened by a man with a weapon demanding money; the suspect took off with an undisclosed amount of money, but the clerk and other patrons in the club were not injured.

Members of the Major Crime Unit led an investigation, with assistance from Ident and Community Safety Enforcement officers, leading police to identify Donovan as a potential suspect. He was arrested on July 10th, without incident and held in police custody pending charges and a Court appearance.
