Cape Breton Regional Police have charged John Travis MacKinnon is with Attempted Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Police made the arrest late Thursday, November 15th and laid charges against MacKinnon today. He was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre until his scheduled Court appearance.

Police originally responded to a 911 call at the Cracker Barrel at approximately 9:09 PM on October 31st, where a lone male suspect, wearing a mask and armed with a knife, tried to rob the store. After a verbal argument with the store clerk, the suspect fled; no one was injured and nothing was taken.

Members of the Cape Breton Regional Police Major Crime and General Investigative Sections, with assistance from the K-9 and Forensic Identification Unit conducted an investigation, which led them to MacKinnon’s arrest and charges.
