Police responded to the residence at approximately 11:20 AM, to reports of an assault with a baseball bat.

A man and woman – both 19 – were transported by EHS to Cape Breton Regional Hospital; the man has since been airlifted to Halifax for further treatment of head injuries and the woman remains in Cape Breton Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police quickly located and arrested a male suspect in the area; the 32-year-old, also a resident of the building and known to the victims, is in police custody.
