Cape Breton Regional Police charged Craig Gordon Wall with Arson, Damage to Property and two Breaches.

Police and the Sydney Fire Department originally responded to the fire at approx. 5:48 AM on July 20; the home was fully engulfed in flames, and members of the fire service determined the fire suspicious in nature.

Further investigation the CBRPS Arson Investigator, Forensic Identification Unit and the Fire Marshall's office led to Wall's arrest and charges; police continue to investigate and are looking for a second male involved in the incident.
