Police originally received reports that a Bud’s Taxi had been stolen from Catherine Street at approximately 6:00 AM. While on the lookout, police later observed the suspect vehicle traveling on King Edward Street at approximately 7:00 AM and engaged emergency lights to pull the vehicle over. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, but proceeded to make a turn on argyle street, when the vehicle rolled over. There was no police pursuit involved in this incident.
EHS transported the driver to Cape Breton Regional Hospital as a precaution, and has since been released back into police custody.
Members of the Ident and Traffic Safety Units are investigating; charges are pending.
